  Hi there !!

  Surely you can make that out, but most people are using it for blogging purpose and you have to understand this that WordPress.com is free web hosting site with some restriction like you can’t use wordpress plugins, you cant write back-end code and many more, all you can do is customize your site with whatever given in the dashboard.

  Here is an another option like, you can upgrade your domain in which you can get the several functionalities like wordpress.org have, where you can make your website as you want with no restriction at all.

  @tommykeenetoo – what many people call a web site is a static thing with lots of Pages – you can choose a theme that has a single column layout if you want and use Pages – but Posts search better

  Or do what I do – I just tell people that I have a web site – nobody really cares if it is a blog or not – they will come to your site based on finding some information they need or something

  pay not much attention to the not very useful answer from @brotskytv

  this is a great place to make a simple web site
