Starting a blog

    I do not quite understand the payment schemes. If I choose on, is it free the first year and what happens if all my good intentions fizzle out and my blog goes belly up?

    Hi there, you can start and continue with an entirely free WPcom website, no need to upgrade right from the start.

    Once you register a free WPcom site, you can then get a feel for the platform and if you decide later to upgrade, you’ll also have access to direct Live Chat and email support.     If you decide to upgrade and register a custom domain, the domain registration fee is included for the first year of your plan. After that first year you’d pay for the domain renewal and your upgrade plan separately.
