starting a blog – naming issues

Ok, i want to have two blogs. I am just about to register my first one. I have a name for it.
How do i choose the domain name. Any pitfalls to watch out for?
Is there somewhere on this site that spells out this business precisely. (in addition to your answers?)
Do i have one domain name per blog? Or one for the both?

Your first blog always has the URL http://YourUserName.wordpress.com. There’s nothing you can do to change that short of purchasing the Domain Name Upgrade (which appears not to be working right now), but you can change the displayed name of the blog on your Settings.
The FAQ has a lot of information about domain names, etc.
http://faq.wordpress.com/All blogs must have a unique domain name, and any upgrades purchased apply only to one blog, not to the whole account.

Which is not to say you have to purchase a domain upgrade. That’s only if you want to take the .wordpress.com part out of your URL.

I am not bothered what my domain name is unless it is going to cause me problems like my first username is. I jsut want to avoid making unnecessary mistakes.

So i clicked register a blog and am afraid i will make some mistake on the next things that’s why i asked for advice.
So what you are suggesting is where it says
domain name, i write my new username.
where it says
blog name, I write what i hope will be the name of my blog. I guess if its already taken it will tell me in some manner.
If that is all there is to it, that should be fine.

Well I am not sure that worked so well. I put in my username where it said domain and a different name for my blog where it said blog name.
I’ve been granted a blog named with my username. Now I need to rename it if so, i wonder why it bothered to ask me the name of my blog in the first place.
I think i can go and change my blog name

Its all right, It seems to have changed its mind and given me what I asked for. What a mess.
