Starting a blog question

  Hi,
  I’m extremely new to blogging and WordPress. I have many questions concerning the set up. However, I’ll just start with this. In the beginning of starting my blog, there was a page that asked if I wanted a username or gimme a blog. What’s the difference? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  Some people don’t want a blog, but want to be able to read a friend’s private blog. To do that, they need to have a username. You have both a username and a blog.
