starting a new blog but already have one set up
-
Hi there, my friend set up a blog account for us together five years ago – we only posted twice and never got it together. My email address is associated with this blog. I now want to start a new blog on my own but it seems I am linked to the other account so cannot set up a new one. I would like to set up a brand new blog, just for myself. Initially I would like a free one but i’m hoping by spring time – when I’ve got the hang of it I’ll upgrade to the first option. My question is do I have to totally delete the account that was originally created or can I just set up a new one that is just in my name, thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there ,
Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address.
You can empty and delete your site. Please refer the below links for more detail:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site
WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted because WordPress.com don’t want other people to have your username in the future but you can easily
delete your site and its data.Data once deleted, cannot be recovered.
This link might help you on all your questions.

Hi there, You don’t need to delete anything if all you want to do is set up a separate WordPressdotcom site under this same username account. It will be separate to the one you set up with your friend and only you will have access to the new site.
Here’s how you can add a new site to your existing account

@nrpatil0408 it’s been possible to delete a WordPressdotcom account for a few months now. Here’s more about that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/close-account/ and noting that the link you provided to account deactivation redirects to the new support guide. You might want to update your predef reply accordingly.

@justjennifer thanks for the information. I will definitely keep these notes in mind moving forward.
