Starting advertisements for income on a free wordpress.com blog

  I am new to the blogging scene and trying to figure out if making a decent income is possible before switching to the paid version of wordpress.com. Can I have advertisments in the free version and if so what does setting that up look like?

  Hello @kbudwell,

  You can’t have any form of advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.
  The alternatives you’ve got if you want to advertise on your website are the following:

  • Be featured into the WordAds program that includes high traffic blogs that qualify for the program;
  • Get a VIP WordPress.com account;
  • Manage your own hosted WordPress installation with WordPress.ORG, which gives you much liberty in advertising. Here’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
