starting an introductory free website

  I want to initially just get something free up there to see how things go and will, hopefully, upgrade at a later date. I don’t understand why my bill came out to $99?

  When you created your WP blog, what option did you select? There should have been the option for the free account and unless you added things such as widgets, themes, or custom domains which all cost money, you may have selected the wrong plan when originally signing up.
