Starting new post and adding to it
-
I hope that I can explain this properly. So far my blog is exactly how I want it. I have 2 pages and 1 has been selected as static. Every time I do a new post, it appears as a separate post. It doesn’t run continuously on the same webpage as previous posts.
I am about to start a new topic about which I have a lot of information. I would like to make it so that it runs more like a typical blog. Example:
Title for New Topic
August 15 The information I post that day
August 16 The information I post that day
August 17 The information I post that day
etc.
How do I make this happen without interferring with the rest of the posts and pages I have so far.

If you’re writing posts rather than pages, they are running like a typical blog, but on the blog page. Not on the static page.
I’m afraid I’m really not sure what your intentions are here, so I’m unable to help you further. Could you clarify?
The website linked to your name is not a WordPress.com blog, and we won’t be able to provide answers for it. Could you provide a link to your WordPress.com blog, starting with http?

Thank you for the heads up. I guess I am still learning the ropes. My name should now link to my wordpress blog.
Okay let me clarify. I am trying to do this:
Static Page- separate
About Page – separate
Post 1 – related to topic 1 – separate
Post 2 – related to topic 2 – separate
Post 3 – related to topic 3 – separate
etc.Post 9m Post 10, Post 11, Post 12 – -all related to the same topic and all show up on one webpage
Post 13 – related to topic 13 – separate
Post 14 – related to topic 14 – separate
etc. -
It’s not possible.
The way you’ve set up your blog, one gets to your posts via the links in your sidebar, and these can only lead to one post at the time.
With the theme you’re using, the only place where you can have a series of posts displayed is the posts page, and you haven’t set such a page; but again, that page would always display your latest posts, not a particular unchanging selection of posts.
Alternative suggestions:
1. Three posts with titles that make it clear they’re related (e.g. Topic – pt I, Topic – pt II, Topic – pt III).
2. One post divided into three ‘chapters’, with links in the beginning that jump to each relevant point.
3. Three pages (excluded from your page widget), then a post with links to them.

If you add the categories widget to your sidebar and categorize your posts, clicking on the category links in the sidebar would only show the posts with the particular category.

“With the theme you’re using, the only place where you can have a series of posts displayed is the posts page, and you haven’t set such a page; “
How do I set a posts page? (Sorry to be such a pain, my head just isn’t getting round it today.) Also, can I have a Posts page, a static page and still have the individual posts listed in the side bar?
-
You can set a posts page from Settings->Reading in the Dashboard.
Yes, you can have all 3.

“You can set a posts page from Settings->Reading”… provided that first you go to Write>Page and publish a blank page named Posts.

Thanks. I am almost ready to go. I have been working on my content. I just want to make sure I am doing this right.
1. I set up up new page and I designate that as my “posts page. (Is that right or do I do a new post and designate it as my posts page?) I assume I can call it anything I like right). Then, I can add new posts and get them to show up on that page.
Just one more question. Once I set up this “Post page” how do I:
– create a new post and make sure it gest added to that page?
– continue to add individual, seperate posts that can be accessed through the side bar? -
YIKES! It didn’t work. I created a page but as soon as I designated it as my posts page, ALL of my posts went there. I had to delete it and use it as a post instead. I guess I’ll just have to keep editing to add new content as I write it .
