  Hello, I currently have a website that Yell built for me. they have their own website editor however I have cancelled my contract with them and I want to build my own website using WordPress.

  How do I build a website on WordPress whilst keeping my existing website live until my new website is ready?

  You’ll get started at https://wordpress.com/start and you’ll be able to built your site under the subdomain we provide for free, you don’t have to add your custom domain until you’re ready to.

  When it’s time for that, we have two options:

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
