Starting Over

Hello, I tried deleting all the content on my blog so I could start over, but apparently I haven’t done everything correctly. I would like to keep the site, I just want to start completely over with new content and a new theme. The directions provided are a bit confusing for me, and the forum topics which are similar have done little to help me with respect to actual directions. Most answers seem to ask more questions than anything. Am I just better off starting a whole new site? I would like to keep the address of the one I have. Perhaps I should just change hosts? If this is a huge convoluted process I probably will. Thank you in advance.

If you want to keep the same address, kevinscottday.wordpress.com, then you’ll need to stick with WordPress.com for your hosting and you won’t want to start over completely.
Let me know where you are getting stuck and I’ll see what I can do to help you out.

Indeed, that was the link I found confusing, as I couldn’t figure out how to actually get to the menus they were describing. Fortunately for me, I was able to eventually get that handled. Unfortunately, now that I’ve executed those directions, I can no longer use any of the same category names that were since deleted. I guess my brain is too simple to handle this stuff, but I’m beginning to think I’d just be better off with a different service. I appreciate you reaching out to me.

I’m sorry for your frustrations!
I jut did a test on my site, and it is possible to re-add the same category or tag names that you’ve used in the past. Could you let me know what kind of error message you get when you try?
If you are having trouble using the same names for pages or post, make sure you’ve completely emptied the trash on both screens. You can read about that at: https://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/

Hi @kevinscottday, just as an idea to address this:

Moving to another service wouldn’t let you keep the same address. But you could move all of your stuff to a new address. Your existing address would be completely emptied, and your stuff would exist on a new site (which you could keep or delete as you’d like.)
If that sounds like it would work for you, here’s how. Just opt to keep the existing address as you work through these steps.

I think I have it all figured out, it just took me a while. Thank you Melinda and Supernovia both, for responding to my post. I really appreciate it, more than you know.
