Hello –
Sure thing! We can definitely help you figure out the best way forward.
If you don’t mind, I’d love to know more about this project.
Having a better understanding about the type of site you’re looking to create, and if you have any goals for it, is a great starting place.
Creating a new site address just takes a few clicks. My Sites – Add New Site. You’ll be able to house all your future projects here too, from this same user account.
Custom domains are really great for giving businesses and projects a professional web presence. The domain registration is included in your hosting plan selection. Those plans are on https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Once I hear back with more details about the project we can help you figure out how each hosting plan applies to your project.

to WordPress.comGood evening,
I hope this email finds you well. In response to your request I believe this project will be geared towards selling my services. I am making a career change and need this new site to showcase my abilities and skills in entry-level virtual assistant, copywriting, and whatever articles I may need to showcase for future prospects or clients. My end goal is to write, edit, and publish a book of my life experiences or short stories of the same nature. I would eventually like to take the proceeds of these to start a non-profit organization to house or shelter battered women and their children. Of course it will take time to accomplish these as it will take time to come up with these. Of course I have much to learn in the copywriting field and I am upskilling but I must have a website to accomplish this desire. I hope I have answered your inquisition clearly. I look forward to your response.
Thank you,
Sarenna -
P.S. I also want to change the site name or domain to Serene- By- Design. I am hoping this to be a fairly simple task as I have yet to publish any content. Again, thank you, Sarenna

I have just checked out your pricing plans and I am unsure of which to choose, either the premium or business as well as what the total annual cost of either plan would total out to. I realize annual purchase is much cheaper, but I am unsure of how long it would be before I could pay this amount. I am going to continue in my search and may have to stay on the free plan for a bit. I also plan to use affiliate marketing and am again unsure if I can do affiliate on the free plan. One more and final thing, how much would it cost to purchase and register a domain name? Thank you, Sarenna

Hello Sarenna,
Many thanks for that extra additional information – it’ll prove most useful.
To check, have you already purchased a domain from another provider, if yes, this can be connected as per these steps: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
Or, this can be purchased via Upgrades > Domains > Add new.
With regards to plans, you could start with the premium plan (https://wordpress.com/pricing/ ) and see how these features work. You should be able to do some affiliate marketing… but if you require additional features, an upgrade to the business plan would be warranted.
We would take into account the current subscription when it comes to upgrading from plan to plan.
A domain is free for the first year with a plan, and after that, it would be an additional charge.
I hope this helps so far.

hello, thank you for the info and good morning to you. A free domain for one year is only available with the purchase of an annual plan only, correct? Speaking of domains, I do have one already, I need to check into that but on the new site Serene-By-Design, I had changed the spelling from Sarenna to Serene and although the site name changed the URL did not… Can it be fixed?

That’s correct, a custom domain name (not including the “.wordpress.com” part) can be registered for free when you purchase a plan; after the first year it’ll become an additional renewal fee in addition to the plan cost. While we most commonly see domains ending in “.com”, that’s not the only option you can choose, and we have a list here of the different extensions and their annual renewal prices here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/Speaking of domains, I do have one already, I need to check into that but on the new site Serene-By-Design, I had changed the spelling from Sarenna to Serene and although the site name changed the URL did not… Can it be fixed?
Were you thinking of the site title versus the site address? You can change the site address to a different “.wordpress.com” (eg
serenebydesign.wordpress.com) by following this guide:
https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/As it is, when you register a custom domain with a plan, the domain usually is set as the “primary” address, meaning that visitors won’t see the “.wordpress.com” version. There’s a little more detail about that setting here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/Otherwise, if you have a domain you registered with another company, you could either connect it to your site, or transfer it to WordPress.com, in conjunction with the plan purchase. We do of course have some general information about those options too:
