Starting Over
-
I want to remove everything from my site and start over. The instructions for how to do that don’t seem to be up to date – I can’t find the things it’s telling me to delete. I want to make sure I keep the same domain!
-
To clear your site, go to My Site >> Settings >> Start Over. Then you’ll contact the staff to request having your site emptied (while keeping the site and url active).

Thanks kulash. That’s actually the path I followed. The link to ask staff actually takes you to an FAQ. I went further down the rabbit hole and got another option to ask a question. Instead of sending it to staff, it posted to the forum. No idea how I’m supposed to actually contact staff for support, even though it keeps telling me that’s what it’s doing.
Regardless, I think I figure it out on my own. Thanks for the reply, though!

Are you referring to this virtually empty site?
http://bstagephotography.wordpress.com/
Yes or No -
If you are referring to that site or to any site hosted by wordpress.com read on, please.
If you want to keep the blog URL (note that no deleted URL can be registered again for two or more years after deletion). https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/ and you are willing to wait rather than doing this yourself http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/ then Staff can empty the whole blog for you. That will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files and once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.
If you are sure you want Staff to proceed, and you are prepared to wait then type modlook into the tags in the sidebar of this thread for Staff attention and post again into this thread to:
(1) confirm the URL of the blog you want them to empty;
(2) confirm that you know content deletion is irreversible. -
re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog
Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help. There is nothing wrong with your site. By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the front page error message and searchbox that appears on every new WordPress.COM blog will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
I recommend using the step by step tutorial linked to the bottom of your Admin page at https://learn.wordpress.com
See also the “Video Quick Start” tutorial http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/
The only relevant support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also linked to on the bottom of your Admin page.

The support docs at http://support.wordpress.com are easy to find and there are links to them all over this site, for example, at the bottom of this page and every Admin page on your site.
re: direct email support

see https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/If you have a paid upgrade, please use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ where you will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately.
Also note, that you can email Staff at:
support@wordpress.com

Note: When we need Staff help with issues that Volunteers cannot resolve we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads.
From the support docs: How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond.
