Starting Over After Database Loss
-
I had a small following on a blog whose database just up and went missing. I have started over with a different host. I would like to combine the two sites in terms of subscribers and such.
The old site’s database went missing one day and the host’s backup appears to be corrupted. So old site is offline. New site is up and running at a different host (that offers daily backups of both DB and Files :) )
Old site is .com, new site is same name but .net. Eventually (soon) both domain names will point to the new site.

The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.
For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are asking for help with a WordPress.COM site then we need a link to that site to give you accurate help.

We bloggers cannot access the database on any wordpress.com blogs. That can only be done on wordpress.org software installs that we do not provide support for, and you failed to post any URLs at all.
What is the exact URL of the wordpress.com hosted site in question?
Exactly which wordpress.com username account registered the site ?

Sites are self-hosted, but what I was looking for help with was the subscribers that actually appear to be a JetPack feature. So I’ve gone there for assistance.
Old Site: http://OneLongDrive.com
New Site: http://OneLongDrive.netHost where database went mysteriously missing and came back missing all post data was http://Arvixe.com – seven weeks of glacial speed support with almost zero communication.

Jetpack is a plugin used by WordPress.ORG bloggers to achieve parity with what we already have built into WordPress.COM blogs, and we do not provide Jetpack support on these wordpress.COM support forums. Please direct Jetpack issues to where they can get Jetpack support.
re: Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackHowever, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service
Your site(s) is (are) not hosted by wordpress.COM. Our support docs do not apply, and we do not provide support. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you are referring to a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

(and just to follow up, JetPack happiness engineer resolved this by moving subscribers to new site. All good!)

Good news, but the bottom line is that we do not provide WordPress.ORG software support or Jetpack support here at wordpress.COM, so please bookmark the Jetpack support links and the wordpress.org support forums for your future use.

I appreciate the pointers.
Seems like at some time in the past, someone didn’t foresee the issue with the names. Ah, hindsight…
