  Hi, I’m new to blogs and WordPress. My goal is to create a site that allows multi-author posting so I’m looking for a theme with these features:

  – Posts show author name at top of each post.
  – Collapsable posts so whole post isn’t shown (eg. “Read more”)
  – Categories shown at the top of the page

  Im using the Inuit theme now, which looks OK to me, but it doesn’t show author name at the top of each post. I suppose the bigger question is: Can the default display within a theme be changed to fit what I’m after?

  I’ve searched through all of the free themes, but it’s been cumbersome and I can’t find a good way to efficiently find what I’m after.

  1. Many of the themes available for wp.com blogs display the author’s (nick)name in the post metadata; others don’t: see here for a list > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/authors/

  2. the more tag > http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  3. categories and where they are displayed > see here Themes Showcase as it’s a live demo site and has a search utility for features

  1) Is there a way to display the author’s real name (Joe Jones) instead of the login name (joejones)?
  3) Where is Themes Showcase?

  For the record, Inuit Types does show the author’s name, but when viewing an individual post

  1. The theme will display the username or the nickname defined by the author. > display name > http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-profile/ see also > http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/

  3. Look up at the links listed at the top of this page http://theme.wordpress.com/

  If this is going to be a multiple author blog then this will be helpful > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/03/06/multi-author-wordpress-com-blogs/

  LOL :D Good catch! I forgot to post that author displayed on single post on Inuit Types which is hilarious as that the theme I’m using too. :)
