starting up free site for now

    I have now two accounts and cannot get past the create a new site page. It automatically takes me to setting up a new domain or connecting to previous one. It won’t let me connect to my own domain. I thought I could create a free WP site? I want to then transfer it to my own host and domain but I cannot even get started let alone upload/choose a theme to start building. Is there a screen share or phone support?

    Hi there!

    You can create a free WordPress.com site using a free .wordpress.com subdomain, however, if you plan on moving it to your own hosting afterwards, you may directly start on WordPress.org.

    To clear up any further confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
    We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
