Stat: Top posts all time

I’d like to suggest a new statistic for the stats page: Top posts all time. The current posts stats page only goes back 30 days. It would be nice to know what posts are the ones that have the most page views ever.

I’m torn. I have a contender for Top Posts of All Time, but by god I am SO TIRED of this goddam post you cannot imagine.
When I go to Blog Stats, the top three posts are Lucy Farking Gao and all of the search engine referrals are Lucy Farking Gao and so on…
So, as someone who caught a rising meme, I have to say I really don’t necessarily welcome this at all.
What happens is, you get a feedback loop and the people who are interested in that click on it and your other posts go poof in their imagination. It reinforces the porn and malevolence hegemony, quite frankly, and it has to do so to the point of EXTREME BOREDOM for me to have a problem with it, which I now do.

I could care less if this feature were added to my blog. I already know which posts are my top ones and like raincoaster I’m bored by seeing how many people hit on my number 1 post day in and day out. I consider it to be sidebar “tat”. However, this is not to say that I do not support the quest of those who want such a widget. If ya think ya need it – go for it. -
Glad to know I’m not the only one that wants to see this. And rain – I meant in the stats that we see, not for public consumption (unless we want to do something like the Top Posts thing in a text widget).
For my purposes, I’ve starting doing some live blogging with electeds. And politicians have egos. Since I’m only doing one a month, the stats to compare them are unavailable.

Ahhh you meant in the stats we bloggers see. I can see why this would be very useful for you Vivian and for others so I support this idea. It’s a useful option and if one doesn’t want to avail themselves of using it that’s okay but it would be there for those who will use it.

Feedback sent. Glad it’s on the list.This is a great idea. I could then compare most views 7 days vs. 30 days vs. ever. This would allow me to better track visitor viewing patterns and improve how I present stuff.

We do read all the feedbacks.
If you do not mind not having a reply then by all means send these +1 emails in. I can’t promise answering any but the first email when these things happen. If I got 20 emails in support then that’s great for the feature request but bad for me if I’m trying to reply to say “Thanks for asking, it’s on the list” – I hate canned replies and do not use them.But we do need to know which features are wanted.
What about I go to the Feature Request list and I link to this thread? That way the thread can grow, useful additions or discussions can go on and when the list is looked and we come here we don’t miss a thing. And I don’t either have to send a lot of repeat emails or not reply to some – another thing I hate is not replying. I’m hoping people know that already though ;)

The feature request list – as with the theme request list – is not accessible. But it does exist – I wwouldn’t otherwise say so.
I record requests – along with the first person who made them.
Up to now where I can I have added the +1 to them but having a thread is a much much better idea because ideas develop.But the list is real and I both add to it and it is read by the team.

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought the list was something we could see. That way, we wouldn’t keep asking for the same thing over and over again. (Like getting the Norfolk tag fixed :( )
