Static Front Page

  I am completely new to WordPress. For what I want to do I need a static front page. I went to http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and Item 1 tells me “Click <b>Pages -> Add New</b> in your Dashboard.” I go to my Dashboard but I can’t find such a message to click on.

  What am I being blind about ???

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Before you start, go through http://learn.wordpress.com. Then you will need to create a static page. THEN you need to go to Settings->General and select it as the opening page of your blog.
