  Curious as to how to remove the background grey wash on the static front page section which currently is darkening the background image.

  Hello there!

  Dropping this code in your custom CSS area should do the trick:

  .home .page-template-panel-page .hentry.has-post-thumbnail:before {
  	background: transparent;
  }

  Let me know if that doesn’t work!
