Static front page has lost some links

    I’ve set up a static front page about me and a separate post for the blog itself. At first this worked fine. But now somehow I’ve managed to lose the link to the Blog and Contact pages from the top of my front page. The blog post is still there but you can’t click through to it from the front page. As a temporary measure I’ve added the blog’s URL in text on the front page. How can I restore the display of the links on the front page?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    To be more specific. I seem to have lost the link to my pages list that should appear on my front (home) page – how can I restore this?

    It sounds like you .may have created a custom menu. Go to the custom menu page in the dashboard Appearance > Menus and in the “Theme Location” module on the upper left select your custom menu from the pulldown and then click “save”.

    You cannot “lose” Pages unless you delete them. If you delete them they can be restored from Trash. This is an article on the theme you are using Twenty Eleven. It has unusual features for example there is no sidebar on single posts (Twenty Eleven) so I strongly recommend reading it very carefully.

    @timethief – thanks. I’ve gone to Menus>Theme Locations but it says my theme only supports one menu and the only one in the pulldown list of Primary menus is Blogs. Under Pages I seem to have Home:About, About, Blog and Contact. So I’m still stuck, I’m afraid.

    All of those would display as Page tabs in your horizontal menu unless you changed that here Settings > Reading
    Reading Settings
    Front page displays

    __ A static page (select below)

    They did display as page tabs ortiginally and I don’t think I changed anything – at least not intentionally! I will have another look at the front page support and reply again when I’m clearer what has happened.

    Try this please Go here > Settings > Reading and make the choice I indicate below in bold lettering and then click “save changes”

    Once we get the Page tabs displaying again I can help you with a creating a custom menu.

    If you only need to display your page tabs, you don’t need a custom menu – just go to Appearance > Menus and make sure the blank option is selected in the Theme Locations pulldown.

    As for “it says my theme only supports one menu”, see here:

    @panaghiotisadam: many thanks, I’ve reset the primary menu to blank and that has all worked fine. In which case I must have recently set it to blog, and forgotten about it.

    @timethief
    : thanks for your help, I don’t need to expolre the custome menu route now.
