Static front page – makes my blog tab not work

  • Unknown's avatar

I would like my “static front page” to be the “About me” page. But when I set it that way, clicking on the “blog” tab no longer takes readers to the blog posts. What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you!

(For now I made it go back to showing “recent posts” as my front page.)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,
To resolve your issue please review step by step what I post below.

    This is not theme specific.

    re: static front page
You have two choices on any blog
    (1) All posts on the front page.
    (2) A static front page and posts on a different page.

By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for all published posts (not pages) to display on in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.

To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
    A static page (select below)
    Front page:
    Posts page:

    The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

    Thank you for your reply.

How do I get my old blog posts to migrate to the new “Blog” page?

This is a nightmare. Halfway through trying to do this. Welcome page appears under “blog” tab. Blog posts inaccessible. No connection between the instructions and how my screen actually looks. No idea what the icons mean on the dashboard. NIGHTMARE.

Ok. I managed to undo the damage by removing the “new page” to the trash.

Here is, I believe, the real issue. I already have this blog with dozens of posts. All the instructions seem to be written for a new blog, or a website with no existing blog. Am I wrong?
