Static Front Page, No Header or Sidebars
-
Hello All. First time to posting topic. (keeping my fingers crossed)
I’d like to have a page (static/home) that has no header or sidebar. Using Tarski.
I presume I’ll need to upgrade to CSS Customization – but holding off till I know my idea is possible.Thank you so much for any help.

Tarski is a very old theme and isn’t as rich with CSS selectors as newer themes, and there is no way to target single pages for styling. You would have to switch to one of the newer themes that have the necessary selectors.

Thanks so much – do you have theme recommendations that support a static front page w/o header/sidebars?
-
All themes support static front pages. For themes without headers of sidebars you can search the Themes Showcase Manifest comes to mind but there are others. Note that custom headers are optional on some theme.

Pilcrow, Coraline, Twenty Ten, Blogum, Chateau, Clean Home, to name a few.
You can go to http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ and then select these feature filters as a start:
Color: light
Columns: 2-column
Features: Custom Header
Styles: Clean, LightThat filtering will bring up themes that are similar to the one you are using.

@thesacredpath
We are expected to experience the coldest winter in the last 20 years here on the coast. I wish I had a ticket to where you live. :( -

Well, I’ll think warmly of you both.
We had a cold front move through the other day and that night I almost went looking for my socks.

Rub it in much? We spent from 6 AM to 8 AM splitting extra wood and storing water for power outages that will be inevitable.

We store water for hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis and power outages are a regular occurrence. Being solar though, power outages aren’t that big a deal for me, but if we have them, I do have to watch my power consumption so that I don’t run out. Overcast days mean less power put into my batteries.
