Static Front Page option not available
-
Hi. Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, if so, please point me in that direction. :)
I am trying to set a static front page, but the option is not showing in Settings>Reading. I have followed the instructions that I’ve found here, to no avail. My blog is served by WordPress (ie: I just signed up for the standard, basic service). Is this why the static page option is not available?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
We require an active link to the blog in question starting with http:// even if the visibility is private. We cannot see into private blogs but we can confirm whether or not they are free hosted WordPress.com blogs and that’s important because WordPress.com and WordPress.org run on different software so answers are different. If you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog then you create two pages (1 for your front page and 1 for your posts to display on) then you go to Reading > Settings and designate them accordingly and click “save changes”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Hi again. Here is the link – it is private:

I understand the bit about “Settings/Reading” but the option regarding the static page just isn’t available to me. I have tried with 2 pages, and with several pages. The option doesn’t appear… :(

And by the way, thank you for trying to help… no matter the outcome, I do appreciate the help!

Lets’ clarify exactly or not your have created the two required pages first (1 for your front page and 1 for your posts to display on) by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#create-a-new-page
If you have not created the 2 required pages first then you cannot assign them here > Settings > Reading

The settings > reading stuff is available on all blogs here.
Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then take another look.
Also, are you set as an administrator on the site? Go to Users > all users and see if it lists your username as an administrator.

I figured out the problem! I had my pages “published” privately. Apparently, they need to just be “published” for all the settings options to be available. Thanks for your help!

That’s make sense. Too bad I didn’t guess that they were “private” pages. Happy blogging.
