Static Front Page setting not retained anymore
-
I am using theme dynamic-news-lite.
I created a page called ‘Home’ and selected a ‘Magazine Homepage’ template for it. To ‘Magazine Homepage’ I added a grid lay-out widget.
In the Customizer of the theme I set up the ‘static front page’ > ‘front page’ to refer to ‘Home’.
I can save and do not get any error. I can even see the website changing to use a grid lay-out for the Home pageHowever, the setting will not actually be saved. When I visit the website, there’s no change and when I close and re-open the Customizer, I can see that ‘static front page’ is still selected, but any page that I chose from the drop down menu as the actual static page is gone: nothing is selected.
Yesterday this worked fine! Now I did a lot of work yesterday. The most related things (though I still don’t see how they could be related) I can think of are:
1) I installed the Polylang plugin. I might have deleted the original ‘Home’ page and created a new one.
2) I removed ‘Home’ from the main menu in favor of a clickable background image in the header.Through FTP I changed no other files than style.css
How can I restore the functionality of the Static Front Page and just select my page of preference!?

After restoring a back-up suddenly my eye fell on the difference. It was simple:
I indeed deleted the original ‘Home’ page and afterwards made a new one. The ‘Home’ page that comes with WordPress though, has it’s URL set at ‘…/rootfolder/’, whereas the newly made ‘Home’ page had it’s URL set to ‘…/rootfolder/home’.
