Static front page with latest two posts. Is it possible?

  I have created a static front page for our blog to separate the blog posts.

  I would like however, to display the latest 2-3 posts from the blog on this static “welcome” front page. Is there an easy way to do this. Right now I am displaying an archive, which is not ideal since I would rather see the posts Title and excerpt.

  Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have been searching for a while with no success.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Pages are a form of content, like posts, so they can’t actually contain posts.

  About the closest you can get is to set your blog to display 2 or 3 posts per page at Settings -> Reading in your Dashboard and leave the blog as your front page.

  by changing the archive attribute to “postbypost” I have managed to get the titles… good enough for me.
