Static front page without any categories-please help!

I know there is a ton of stuff about deleting categories but none of it makes sense to me! I am a caveman.

I want to have a static front page for a small business I am starting. How do I make it so there is no category listed at all on my homepage? I just want a website with contact info, about me and maybe some audio clips. I may blog or write a little, but I want the ability to have a crisp page without categories on the sides.

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to remove the categories widget from the sidebar at appearance > widgets.

sorry, this doesn’t make sense to me- my sidebars have nothing in them.

OK, then what you are seeing is the default sample set of widgets that is created by the theme so that you can see what it will look like with widgets, and to keep the sidebar from being just an empty space.

Add a widget of your choosing to the sidebar, any widget and the default sample set will then go away.
