Static Home Page
-
Hi,
I have read several times about the steps to take to make a static home page, yet when I go to settings>Reading> …. I do not have the “static front page” option. The first option that appears refers to the number of pages allowed to show (ten is default). I already made three pages for my blog; I currently have all blog pages set to private, but I even tried removing that setting. The static front/home page option still did not appear.
Please help! Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you are not the person logged in as Admin under the username account that registered the blog in question then you will not be able to set a static front page on the blog.
By default the front page of your blog displays all posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest posts, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

I am the person logged in as admin. I did make a second (and third) page. Does the “blog” page have to be titled “blog”? I titled it something else.
I added a picture to the second page, so I then made a third page to see if perhaps the picture prevented the static front page option from appearing under “settings”. Still, with the blank third page, I do not have the static home page option.

I don’t see any published pages here:

Is this the site in question? If not, please post a link to the site. You’ll need a least one published page in order to set a static page as your front page. Thanks!

Hmm… When I go to Pages>All, it shows I have three pages. The status on all three pages (when I go to edit each one) says “privately published”. I do not see a way to change the publish status for any of them. If there is a way, could you tell me how?
P.S. I have an online account/blog with Word Press, but I never did “download” anything because I couldn’t get it to work on my Mac– I do not know if that makes a difference, or it everything should work just with the online account. Thanks!
