Static home page on Sela?
-
Hello,
I just purchased WordPress a couple days ago and am using Sela as my theme. The theme came with a Home page and About page.
I’m trying to set up my site with a static front page, but when I go to “Pages” under “Publish”, the Home page isn’t listed. Is it located somewhere else on the dashboard? If not, is there a way I can create my own Home page without the Home page that came with Sela?
Thanks so much for your help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sela is a free theme here at WordPress.COM. The detailed theme description page under Front Page Template instructions refer to our WordPress.COM support docs at https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
I am not clear on what this means

Perhaps you are referring to the WordPress.ORG theme version. If you are referring to a WordPress.ORG install then know that our WordPress.COM support docs do not relate to WordPress.ORG software, and we cannot provide support for it. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Yes and the Premium upgrade does not include any Premium themes at all but as I said above the Sela theme is a free theme. The detailed theme description page under Front Page Template instructions at https://wordpress.com/themes/sela/ refers to our WordPress.COM support docs at https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
This is an one or the other situation. You have two choices on any blog
(1) All posts on the front page.
(2) A static front page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and all posts on a different page.re: static front page
By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors who will not be happy to have to click through an About page every time they visit your blog as they come to read your most recently published content. Creating that situation can make some visitors annoyed – so annoyed that they stop following your blog. However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for all published posts (not pages) to display on in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.
To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change for each of the two page and click “save changes”.
A static page (select below)
