Static homepage and blog question.

  Whats a good way to set up a static home page and a blog for my site. I need the homepage to be static but would like to have the blog portion set up like mysite.com/blog is this possible without having to have two WordPress installs.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
