Static homepage BUT – with latest 5 posts – link and a few lines of text

  I am currently putting together a site (cannot reveal the URL just yet) and would like to have a static homepage but be able to include 5 or so of the latest posts.

  These posts should include the link title, a summary of the post and a more or continue link.

  Is this possible?

  IF you’re talking about a wp.COM blog, then along with your static page you can set a posts page as well (see the FAQ on static front). You can show the beginning of posts only (see the FAQ on splitting posts with the more tag). An independent summary is the so-called “Excerpt”, but this only works with a few themes.
