Static homepage help

  I’m trying to create a Static homepage that will have a bunch of square images (about 300px w/l) lined up in 4 columns and 3 rows. When clicked on, each image would bring you to a certain section.
  For some reason this is extremely frustrating to do b/c images either won’t line up or stay on same line.
  I’ve tried different themes but the problem seems to be within the WP posting/editing box.

  Can anyone help me with this?
