Static page
-
The FAQ suggests a procedure to write a static page that will appear as the “front page.” I’ve written the two pages as suggested and opened OPTIONS/READING, but I do not get the Front page display options that I’m apparently supposed to get.
I get:
Size of the post box: lines
Formatting: Convert emoticons like :-) and :-P to graphics on display
WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
Default post category: Blogroll Uncategorized What Who Why
Default link category: Blogroll Uncategorized What Who WhyObviously I’m doing something wrong. Does anyone have an idea?

You need to Publish the pages for them to appear as choices in Options > Reading
Head to Manage > Pages to edit to then publish.
-
…and you can also choose Options > Reading > Static Page and make adjustment from there, to determine what shows as your front page. (Once published, you can still make changes here if you like)

That’s my problem. I HAVE published the page titled HOME and a blank page titled POST (per the instructions) They appear when I visit the site. But when I select OPTIONS/READING the static page select text and selection windows just don’t appear.

I see them unpublished. Maybe you clicked Save by mistake?

Well I THOUGHT I had. I did click on “publish” but I guess I didn’t. Actually the instructions say click on SAVE, but I realized that I couldn’t select the page as the front page until I published it, so I went to edit and clicked on PUBLISH. When they appeared in the blog, I figured that I had, indeed, published.
Anyway they are now and I thank you for your advice and help.
