static page help

I have followed the “help” directions a hundred times, My only page is set as an About Me section.. I have it set as my static page (under readings) to display as my front page. However, my first and only post is still coming up as the front page.. I have done this a million times. I thought I had my static set up as home by doing the above. Is there something Im missing. So new to blogging, this site is a bit challenging for a newbie..

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Read this so you are aware of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

By default this is the front page of your blog http://theteacupnotthetea.wordpress.com/

By default the front page of your blog displays all posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors who come to read your latest posts and who are not likely to be happy to be compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.

To do that create two pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

    Front page displays
    __ Your latest posts

    A static page (select below)
    Front page:
    Posts page:

Okay. The link you provided shows me my static page which is what I wanted. However, its shows me this also when on my Dashboard. BUT when I search and pull it up on the web, it shows my first post.

Thanks for your help, Im a true beginner. Are you suggesting I add my posts to this static page?

Did you create two Pages? If you did not create a Page for you posts to appear on and designate it here:
Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
    Front page displays
    __ Your latest posts

    A static page (select below)
    Front page:
    Posts page:
    Read: http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Then there will be no access to any of your posts.

Ok,,, I think I did it. If someone could check Id be so grateful. I should have two pages one with a static and one with a blog… Im not sure why my crap computer isn’t showing the page as everyone see it.

Oh and if someone could tell me how to change the color of my “categories” widget.. that’s be nice. Its puke yellow!

So far the this forum has been very helpful, blessed to have great minds among the group : )
