static page option missing in new format
-
I am trying to use my site after a long absence. you have changes the settings and I cannot find how to change the ‘static’ page – I want to remove the current private static page and add the newest post as a larger, static page. over an hour later, cannot seem to do this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
thanks – I have seen “there” for over an hour, but I have no “static front page” option available to select.
THIS is what my “problem” is, sadly. this new format is completely obscuring what used to be a relatively easy site to post on.

You have two choices on any blog
(1) All posts on the front page.
(2) A static front page and posts on a different page.By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors who will not be happy to have to click through an About page every time they visit your blog as they come to read your most recently published content. Creating that situation can make some visitors annoyed – so annoyed that they stop following your blog.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for all published posts (not pages) to display on in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.
To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
A static page (select below)
Front page:
Posts page: -
thanks for your time – I was hoping to find the “sticky” option that I have used in the past, remove the current (private) sticky post – which I cannot do now – and make my current (public) post larger, as the sticky post used to be able to do.
I give up. it shouldn’t be so hard, but y’know the web, gots to always have NEW IMPROVED UPDATES to formats that worked fine. . .

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

The Classic Editor will continue to exist in wp-admin. We know some users prefer to use this editor, so we want you to have access to it, instead of phasing it out with the new version of the Dashboard. However, a link to the Classic Editor will not return to the New Editor. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/when-editing-an-old-post-how-do-i-switch-to-the-classic-editor?replies=5Features that won’t be included in the new editor

once again, your time spent helping me navigate the “new” is much appreciated, timethief.
I have other things I need to do for now, but I may just try and “fix” things another time.
take care!
