Static page options missing

    I have tried following the steps admin>settings>reading to set my front page as static. The beginners guide clearly shows the options dialogue box there. I do not seem to have this. The only options are the number of posts per page. I have tried removing and uploading three different versions of wordpress and don’t seem to be able to find this option on any of them. I currently have 2.8.1 installed. As a total newbie I am bound to be doing something very basic wrong, but can’t figure out what. Can’t find anyone else in the forums who has struck the same problem. Any help appreciated.

    Sorry, you are in the wrong forum and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as your blog is self-hosted and self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported there.

    These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently and our answers typically will not work for you.
