Can someone advice, is it better to have a static page or blog page. Currently if I am posting something I am also manually updating that on static page. I am not getting view as expected. Can someone advice if this is something related to updating on static page the site is not getting expected views…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Neither one is better. It depends on the type of site you want to have.

If it’s a website for a business, most people prefer to use a static front page providing basic information about the business, with posts being on a separate News or Updates page.

But on the other hand, if you want the latest news to be the first thing people see when they get to your site, you’ll want the blog page as your front page.

Currently if I am posting something I am also manually updating that on static page.

What do you mean by this? Are you saying you’re also manually adding your posts to a static page? There’s no reason why you’d have to do this. If you don’t want your posts to show on the home page, you can just assign another page as the posts page, and the posts will automatically appear there.

I am not getting view as expected.

How much traffic you get has no connection to whether you use a static front page or your latest posts as the home page. Traffic depends on how many people subscribe to your site, and how your site is being ranked in search results, and that depends on your content – if the content is good, search engines will show it to people who search for relevant terms and they will visit the site. If the content is poor, or just re-posting what already exists on other sites, search engines won’t show your posts to people, so they’ll have no way of finding your site.

  • Those sites are not hosted with us, and they’re not using themes we offer on WordPress.com, so there’s no way for me to know if they’re showing latest posts on the home page, or a special front page template that displays their posts. The igadgets site also doesn’t load for me at all.

But it also looks like your site already shows posts on the front page, via home page blocks that are a feature of your theme. The bFastMag theme you’re using is also not a theme we offer on WordPress.com, so if you need help with that theme it’s best to contact support for that theme directly.
