Static page public, private posts / other pages.

If I make the static page public – but make all other pages/posts/etc private, that would mean that the person needs to be an authorized user under my Privacy settings… right?
I just want to verify. I have a blog, but I want limited access, and only want to use the static/welcome page for people to learn how to become a reader.

I did not Link a site. I chose not to share – as it is private, personal and I do not feel the need to share it with you…

It is a wordpress.COM site, and i did purchase my domain name through wordpress.com .

And if I do give you my link, it wont even open. As I have it listed as private.

The site linked to your name is
    http://www.mytotallyrandomlife.com/

    Not a wp.com blog. It’s not private.

If you are asking about another blog, perhaps hosted on wp.com, then please read the support documents about privacy settings here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

You can set your whole blog to private, or not searchable by search engines, or to public and searchable.
If you set your static page to public (either searchable or not by google etc.), then you have to set each post as private or password protected. Password protected posts will show titles, but only people who know the password can read more than the title.

If you set posts to private, then only you (the administrator) can read them. (Unless you have invited others to be administrators or editors).

If you give us volunteers a link and it won’t open, then I’d assume your whole blog is set to private. In that case, you can invite people to read your blog as users. They will be the only ones who can read it: but they must set up wp.com accounts (not necessarily blogs) in order for them to access your site.

The one linked to my pic here is my “everyday life” kinda blog..I have that linked as when i comment on other peoples blog, I rather they see that one… And I forgot it was even linked to my name here…

The one I am asking about in particular – is a wp.com blog. its a private blog, and only a few sets of eyes will be viewing it.. SO i would rather not share if I do not absolutely have to.

So if I set it to private, then the viewer has to have a WP account to view it – and I have to put their wp user name in the privacy settings page, right? where it says I can have up to 35 users – correct? If so, than I will go that route.

    Thanks.

Yes, that is correct. You will add them, once they get their usernames, at settings > privacy.
