Static Page vs Last Posts

    Hi,

In terms of SEO and page ranking in Google, what is better to a WP Blog?

    – to have a static page talking of the main subject of the blog

    – to have the last posts

  • @ruioliveira73 advice on posts vs pages is debatable; if you google it you’ll find all sorts of varying opinions. Personally I think regular updates via post tend to get more traffic overall, but I don’t think what you display on the front page matters as much.

If you’re worried, you might try a theme that displays a mix of static content and posts, such as this one:

But I can say for SEO you’ll want to focus on the content of individual posts and pages. If someone’s searching for a specific topic, you’ll want them to see that specific content, not the home page where they’ll have to hunt for what they tried to find.

    I hope that helps.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
I do focus on my SEO on Page content.
The question was, if in overal to Google, does it matters the home page being a Static or a Latest Posts.
One of my blogs did increase Google ranking after some changes, and one of them was that, I changed from a Static page to my latest 6 posts.

  • @ruioliveira73 If you’re trying to optimize your front page itself for specific words, I suppose how often you post about that topic may make a difference. I’d recommend checking Google’s documents and webmaster forums for advice.
