Static pages and Google

I was surprised that after setting up my blog just a few days ago, google already indexed a category section as well as an individual post, so I was wondering does google index the static pages too and do they do as well in search engines as blog posts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It does, but it hates them. Static pages add virtually nothing to your site in terms of search engine attraction. Categories, being dynamic and composed of Posts, not Pages, are very attractive to Google so it’s not uncommon for category pages to rank higher in searches for a blog than individual posts.

Thanks for your reply. So for my blog to continue showing in Google I need to keep posting? I was thinking of setting it up sort of like a website.
