Static Pages and widgets

  How can I place a widget on a static page? I am trying to use my static page as a ‘welcome page’ and in my welcome page I would like to only have an image slider. Do you guys think this is possible?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Full-Width Page Template
  If you want to keep the sidebar on your blog but remove it on a page or two, you can use the Full Width, No Sidebar template, set under Page Attributes. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/

  Widgets can be installed only in sidebar areas and footers. They cannot be embedded into pages or posts.

  There are no themes with image sliders here. There are 23 free themes that have featured post sliders for posts that have featured images. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/?sort=free The Truly Minimal theme is not among them.
