How can I make my front page look like a web page without the side bar or looking like a blog page.
I’m reading and using word press for dummies.
I’m new at this.
Thank you,

You might look at this article:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/widgets-on-pages-or-single-posts/The option you are hoping for is theme dependent.

Also, please read your other thread where I replied about the differences between wp.COM and wp.ORG: your wordpress for dummies book may not be very clear about the differences: .com and .org are not the same so what you read there may not apply here.

I use a static page and it works well for making a blog look like a website.
It puts all your posts on another page. (I am a dummy too but it’s dead easy to do) -
@ pekepenguin
Your static page still has a sidebar, and the OP was looking for a way to eliminate that sidebar on a static page:
to have “a web page without the side bar or looking like a blog page”
