for the first time ever, I have not had any views for 4 days. Is it me or is it you?

I just visited your site. Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ Without logging in visit your site. Wait for an hour or two and if my visit and your visit are not recorded there is no issue. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

Well, I did as you suggested, and there does not appear to be any change, no views for the past 4 days. (I have received emails suggesting that peiople have “liked” my latest post; but, these are not reflected in the stats)

Please do not assume that everyone who clicks a like button actually reads the post on your blog because odds are they may not.

Also note that those who follow your blog in the Reader or by email don’t have to click into the blog unless they wish to.

Likes and shares and comments and reblogs and follows are not page views. In fact, likes, shares, comments and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “follow” your blog, “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat.

Logged in visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606

You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.

Our stats are not real time stats. For details see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ and note the views and viewers take hours to update.

I’ll tag this thread for Staff to take a look at your stats. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Yes I have noticed that there is a disparity between views, notifications, and stats. And there have been days when there are no views, I thought maybe there was some “subscription” issue on my end; and, so I actually am looking for guidance regarding maybe something that I am doing or not doing. I did double check by asking my son and a co-worker to specifically look; and, that coupled with your unrecorded view makes me think mayber there is a glitch. I have had stats change sometimes a day later, but never 3 days.

Hang in there please while waiting for Staff to work their way forward to this thread.

    Hi carlfmaulbeck,

I took a look at your stats and I don’t see anything unusual. You have some days with very few visits, so it’s possible that there are some days without any.

Keep in mind, for better or worse, that if someone reads your posts on their WordPress.com Reader or in email, they will not count as views in your stats. Please see timethief’s earlier thread asking what does, and does not, count as a page view, as this may clarify things for you:

    Puzzling but so it goes

  • Unknown's avatar

When I read from my email and “like” and or comment on the post. Their site seems to open and it seems to go on the sight both as a Like and a Comment, Does that “count” a s view for them? In addition from the reader, I have noticed that if I like it without “opening”.
It does not seem to “count” is that indeed a correct deduction.

If someone clicks on a link within an email, they will be sent to your site. If they view the site in the Reader, or they do not click on a link, it will not.

Please note that the stats are not immediate, and some may be reflected on the previous or next day due to time zones and update schedules.
