stats

This is what happens: when I check my stats, MY OWN visits to the blog are included in the total numbers of visitors. Pity, this also happens when I haven’t visited at all, 100% sure of that. Why does this happen, and how can it be avoided? Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

How exactly do you know it’s your own visits being recorded? There is nothing on the stats page that indicates a specific person viewed your site.

If you view your site while logged into your WordPress.com account your own visits are not counted. However, if you view your site in an incognito browser tab or while logged out your views will be counted, as then we have no way to know it’s you viewing the site.

Pity, this also happens when I haven’t visited at all, 100% sure of that.

Have you considered that someone else might be viewing your site? Your site is public, so anyone with an internet connection can view it. If the views are going up while you’re not viewing the site, the only possible explanation is that someone else is viewing your site.
