Stats

The stats on wordpress.com do not update correctly since it was recently updated. I have notifications informing me that readers have liked my blog post or have commented, but the statistics don’t accurately reflect the number of people that have viewed the blog for that day. For example, I’ve had 6 people like a post, 1 person comment, and 2 people start following (which all reveal a lot of activity) and yet the statistics say that there have only been 3 views. There are times when it says that there are 0 views, even though I’ve had a few people like or comment on my blog. Is there a glitch? Or is there something I don’t know about the stats page on WordPress?

Have you read the site stats documentation?

Why doesn’t the number of referrers add up to the number of total views?
Not all visitors will land on your blog by clicking a link somewhere else. Visitors may type your URL directly into the web browser, click a link in an email, or click a link in another application which then loads the browser. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

WordPress com Staff have made it easy for members to “like” what they are reading, wherever they are reading it (Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results, Posts, Pages, Media). etc. There are several different ways that readers can start following your blog.

A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts in the Readomatic reader on the home page of WordPress.com without visiting your blog or the Topics pages. An email subscriber can click the “like” button in the email they receive of your new posts without visiting your blog.

P.S. To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post I have set my RSS Feed to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

  • Hi,

There isn’t a glitch. Here are ways where your readers/followers can Like and comment on posts:

    • through the Reader on the WordPress.com home page (if they’re following a blog or viewing a Topic), or
    • one of the mobile apps

    I hope that helps!
