"stats" and "blogs I follow" corrupted on iphone and will not work properly

I am using ios 6.1.3 on my iphone 4s. Before Christmas the stats stopped working and became unreadable. 48 hours ago my “blogs I follow” stopped updating and reverted to November 16, 2014 and will not budge from that date. We have restarted the phone many times and nothing improves. We can’t update to the new wordpress version as that would require updating the ios version. ios7 was a disaster on my husbands phone and drains the battery flat while ios8 requires so much space it will turn my phone into a paper weight. Is there a was to again make wordpress functional on my phone as I would like to still blog being mobile rather than chained to my desktop. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It sounds like the app won’t be a good option for you anymore. You can try using WordPress.com in your mobile browser instead. Let me know if you have issues with that.

Now for the next challenge, I have been trying to use WordPress in Safari on the iPhone. It used to work well, but recently in “stats” when you go to “switch sites”, the screen that shows all my sites no longer displays the text, just grayed out icons down the left hand side. Up until a few days ago it was fine. The phone has been restarted and all that but no change.

It is quite sad that it looks like I will no longer be able to post on a mobile device. No more travel posts or spontaneous posts. It seems like each week WordPress is becoming less and less functional. I feel like the “improvements” are actually what will make my blogs extinct.

You shouldn’t need to visit the stats page to publish a new post. You go directly to the editor from WordPress.com or this link:

Unfortunately, we can’t maintain functionality for all versions of every OS and browser. WordPress.com may be one of the first sites to break on your phone, but if you don’t install the updates that are meant for your phone more and more websites and apps will start to function abnormally or not at all.

The stats was just an example of how the site is becoming less and less functional.

Many people are not doing the updates as they are making the phones nonfunctional. ios 7 drained the battery so quickly that a charge cord was needed near by all the time. ios 8 takes up so much memory that you forfeit being able to use the iPhone for a variety of functions; the memory all goes to the operating system.

I guess the frustrating thing is everything worked perfectly even as recently as October or November, then WordPress started “improving” the site destroying how it functions.

The sensible option would be to provide different versions of WordPress so that users could choose the version most compatible with their technology.

I do know from reading WordPress many times a day, at least in the categories I follow (so not at all scientific), there are a lot fewer posts going up. There is a lot less to read which is odd because traditionally many people start blogs at the beginning of a new year. I can’t help but wonder if the “improvements” are actually making it impossible for people to use the site.

Anyways, thank you for the information. I guess I will plod along a little bit longer while looking for other blog hosting options that are more compatible with the way I blog, especially when dealing with mobile devices.

Some of us cannot install the latest version even if we try, because it will not install on our phones.

I suspected I wasn’t the only one having issues!

Anyone with a Blackberry or an older-model iPhone is having issues. I haven’t been able to check my stats from the phone in months. I can’t tell which comments are spammed or not.
