Stats anomalies
-
Sorry – this probably is explained somewhere but I didn’t find it.
The stats for my site often seem wrong. Yesterday I put up a new post, got 11 likes but apparently only 5 visits.
Maths is not my strong point but even I can tell that doesn’t add up.

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/

I submit that including email clicks on like and share buttons in my stats would be daft. If I can get all your posts by email then why should your blog be attributed with a visitor stat when a like button or share button clicker didn’t enter the blog?
I choose to reduce my RSS Feed to “summary” here > Settings > Reading
For each article in a feed, show

Summary
Doing that compels followers to click in and read the full post on my blogs. -
Ah. That makes more sense. Thank you!
(Sorry, I’m a bit of a novice at this game and easily confused.) -
