Stats Behaving Strangely?

I apologise if this sounds similar to some other recent threads about stats, but my issue didn’t seem to be exactly the the same as those mentioned there.

And I should emphasise, this ISN’T a huge problem, but it IS noticeable, and I’m just wondering if other bloggers have experienced it as well.

In the past two weeks or so, I’ve often had my REFERRER stats read “example.com, 45 views”, and my total views at, say 1121, but then 2 minutes later the referrer stats will say “example.com, 37 views” and my total views at maybe 1079 or something.

In other words, my stats go up and down all day, although of course the overall trend is up! They didn’t do this 2 weeks ago. Has this been happening to anyone else?

The same exact thing is happening with my stats and has been doing so for quite a while now (4+ weeks?). I notice that when my overall count shows correctly, the hits from my referrers goes down and vice versa. I’ve been curious about this phenomenon and am looking forward to hearing back from anyone with information, although it’s not really a big deal, more of a curiosity.

Yeah, the same thing would happen to me prior to the new dashboard design. I’ve not noticed anything recently because there is hardly any traffic into my weblog, too.

What browsers are you guys all using, and have you updated Flash? I’ve noticed that the graph sometimes doesn’t load for me, but that’s the only weirdness I’ve seen. If it’s still happening Monday I’d send a support ticket in to staff and in the meantime assume the higher numbers are the more accurate ones.

Thanks raincoaster! I updated my Flash and I’m still getting the mysterious backtracking stats. I’ll put in a support ticket on Monday.

got to keep refreshing just to get the correct actuall stats =(

hope wordpress does something about it
