Stats Bug
-
My stats have been in correct for at least a week now. I have had four likes, but none of them have registered on my stats page. I know that more than two people have gone to see my page, but only two views are showing up on my stats page. What’s going on?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

People can ‘like’ a post from the Reader, and so do not need to go onto your blog, and therefore a like from the Reader will not count as a hit in your stats.

To follow up on what thegiddygoat posted, likes and shares numbers are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the “like” and/or “share” buttons. Those who do not have accounts cannot use the like button. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/
Note: To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post thereby creating a page view stat, I have set my RSS Feed for posts to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

I’m not sure why so many people seem to put so much weight on Stats. In over 10 years on the web, I’ve never met a Stats counter that was accurate more often than not.
They’re really just sort of random and can be affected by any number of things.
