Stats by country.

  your stats by country are a hoax … I know where my absolute minimal stats are coming from … as I only have a couple of viewers whom I know are looking when they are looking. And your stats say they are in a different county to where they are viewing from. I know this because I deliberately have no other views.

  Hi there,

  Your WordPress.com site, http://mariemags.wordpress.com/, is public, which means anyone with an internet connection anywhere in the world can view it. There is no way to restrict who can view a public site on WordPress.com.

  Location data is based on a visitor’s IP address. If someone is using a proxy or VPN service that routes their internet traffic via an IP address in a different country, that country will appear in stats rather than the actual country where someone is located. We have no control over that, and can only display the information we receive from a particular visitor’s browser.

  I know this … but I only had one view on the said given day … and that was from my friend in Montenegro and that showed up … and then the next day she looked again and told me that she had viewed … and that came up as Ireland instead of views from Montenegro!

  I actually have almost no views and I like it this way … this works for me … … as I use my blog more as a method of spiritual journaling diary writing … and sending a link to the person that I want to read that particular post! .. I can almost check immediately that they have viewed as the email and the view … is generally the only view I have.

  Hi there,

  With the site being public, there is a good chance that someone will find your site and it will be difficult to determine where that exact visit/view came from. In order to better verify and control your site stats, you can make it private. That way, only you and the people you invite to view your site will be counted in the stats:
