Stats don't seem to work

I think my blog has a problem. “Referrers” says we’ve had 20 visits today from a specific website linked to a particular article, but that article’s only received 7 visits today. How is it possible? I’m afraid stats are not right!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are two stats: how many views, and how many visitors. If I visit your article 10 times today, it will show up as ten views; however, you will only show one visitor. Is this what you are seeing? Does that clear anything up for you? Please let us know!

No, I mean “Referrers” tells us we had 40 visits from a website where we had a link to 1 specific article on our blog, but “Top posts and pages” tells us that particular article only had 12 visits… nothing to do with visitors…
