Stats dropped after upgrading.

Hi, there. I recently upgraded and it seems my stats have dropped by about 45%. I wasn’t sure if this was connected or not.
I also wondered what the benefits are of upgrading besides having my own domain name? I thought I would be able to customize my blog as well, but when I customize it tells me I have to pay for it.

Which upgrade did you purchase? Was it just the custom domain one for $18 per year, if so, the only thing you get is a custom domain (though you can apply for WordAds and get money from your blog), Was it the Pro bundle? You get exactly what is describe here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/
Your stats have dropped because the new domain, is just that, new. So Google hasn’t started indexing the pages, and it has no Page Rank, so it won’t rank highly in google searches. It takes some time to build back up your Page Rank, and to start seeing your stats improve.

Thank you so much for clearing that up! I didn’t realize this would hurt my stats. I thought people would just be redirected to my page.
My upgrade was for the domain name. I assumed I would be able to customize my page.
About the WordAds, how long does it take to hear from them about this? I applied a couple of weeks ago.

People are redirected to your new name – all the old URL’s work – it’s just that traffic drops for a while – which is why the advice of many is if you plan to get a custom domain name – get it early
